Students were asked to find a map using a mapping software then, in Adobe Illustrator, trace a path on it. Along this path they were to place icons for key locations to help their map user find their way. After creating a series of icons, students were asked to select the most visually interesting one and create a new piece of art with it, adding text to signify the importance or function of the place. In this case, the student used the shape of Memorial Hall and embellished it to show its function as a music venue.
